Arado Ar E. 581. 4 layers

The Arado Ar E. 581.4 was a single-seat jet fighter design developed by the Arado Corporation (best known for its Ar 234 jet bomber). The fighter will use a wide-area delta wing plane, a single turbojet mount and a wheeled tricycle landing gear.

The shape of the fuselage should be deep, with circular air intakes in the front to allow the turbojet to be drawn into it. The cockpit is located at the rear of the wing panel, and the outline of the fuselage and wing looks like one unbroken area.

While the plane looks like a real flight-only wing, it was designed to use vertical surfaces on the trailing edge, with fins placed on either side of the jet tubes. It is more properly classified as a "high-wing tailless delta". Reported dimensions include a wingspan of up to 29.3 feet and a length of 18.4 feet.

All other measurements are unknown.

While the cockpit is positioned to provide the pilot with good forward, overhead and side visibility, it severely limits downward visibility due to the large wing area.

The proposed engine is a single 2,866 pound thrust HeS 011 series turbojet. Since the aircraft has never been flown, no performance data is provided or can only be estimated.

The proposed armament consists of a pair of Mk 108 30mm cannons mounted on each wing root.

Arado Ar E. 581. 4 has not been developed beyond the paper stage.
