History of Pilatus PC-24
The PC-24 is a new addition to the light passenger jet market for Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus. The aircraft, which debuted in 2013 during the European Business Aviation Exhibition (Geneva), was certified and delivered by the end of 2017. The official series was released on February 7, 2018.
The PC-24 is usually designed as a business jet. It features modern and advanced features including short-field/rough-field capabilities, a flat-floor cabin design and custom seating options for the most discerning customers. Avionics are fully integrated. The product is powered by 2 Williams FJ44-4A turbojet engines mounted on the wings on either side of the empennage. The main aircraft is swept back and mounted amidships.
The empennage is based on the proven T-shaped arrangement in which a single rudder fin carries two horizontal planes. The landing gear is wheeled and fully retractable under the aircraft.
Performance figures include a cruising speed of nearly 790 kilometers per hour and a range of up to 3,330 kilometers. Curb weight is 4,970kg and MTOW is 8,050kg.
Three prototypes were used to test the PC-24, designated "P01", "P02" and "P03". The first two prototypes flew more than 1,350 hours, with their first flight recorded on May 11, 2015.
Production has been ongoing since 2015, with approximately 84 PC-24 aircraft currently on order (2018). The launch customer is PlaneSense, which has signed up to six such examples.
