The story of Ziyan pufferfish

China Ziyan has developed a complete vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) family, including the entry "Fugu I". Blowfish is marketed as a multi-mission platform capable of taking on a plethora of battlefield roles and missions using a helicopter-like toolset. This means critical replenishment of advancing troops, reconnaissance of enemy positions, and direct targeting of enemy elements from a distance.

In addition, such systems have inherent disaster relief/humanitarian capabilities suitable for search and rescue (SAR) and related roles.

The platform operates at low to mid-altitude and has an overhead three-blade main rotor that works with a three-blade tail rotor assembly located on the port side to counteract the torque produced by the main rotor. The fuselage is low and strong, tapering upwards, with the main rotor assembly located low above. The undercarriage is simple and inexpensive, with a four-point skid, capable of landing on rough terrain.

The tail shaft is short compared to the overall length of the fuselage and accommodates the drive shaft for the tail rotor assembly while supporting the vertical control surfaces.

The Blowfish I is all-weather capable and capable of navigating complex terrain types such as urban and mountainous environments. The drone has a built-in autonomous "one-button" return-to-home function for easy recovery and restart. Payload capacity reaches 18kg, and the mission kit is mounted under the belly for easy access/replacement.

The optics/sensor fit is managed at the nose under the transparent aerodynamic dome cover.

Dimensions include overall length 1.8m, width 1.9m (including rotor) and height 0.6m. The maximum take-off weight (MTOW) is 50 kg. The helicopter can handle a cruising speed of 90 km/h (max 145 km/h) with a flight time of up to 60 minutes. The working altitude reaches 5,100 meters.
