History

China's tech industry continues to move in entirely new directions, with various services actively working to wean themselves off foreign reliance. Various products are now designed, developed and produced locally.

In addition to viable locally engineered engines, the country is doing well in aviation as it grows into a self-sufficient global powerhouse capable of competing with its main rivals.

Large heavy transport helicopter AVICopter AC313 (Changhe Z-8F-100) entered service on the civilian market on 5 December 2013. Heavy transport, taking on multiple roles. The result is the largest rotorcraft in Chinese cartography history, with ten produced to date (January 2017).

The AC313 was developed from the Harbin Z-8 series (detailed elsewhere on this site), which itself was nothing more than a Chinese version of the French-built 1966 Aerospatiale SA321 "Super Frelon" heavy-duty tractor (also described elsewhere A description is detailed on this page). side? ?). As such, the AC313 shares some notable similarities with the French product, including its rounded front end, high-mounted rear bar and wheeled tricycle landing gear.

In many ways, the AC313 is essentially a modernized Chinese version of the French helicopters of the 1960s.

The aircraft is equipped with three Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6B-67A engines powering the six-bladed main rotor and five-bladed tail rotor. The main rotor is on the short mast and the tail rotor is on the port side of the aircraft. The cockpit is located aft of the bow assembly and has large windows for a good view from the cockpit. The sides of the fuselage are flat and punctured by a row of passenger windows.

The rear of the hull tapers upwards to allow for the installation of cargo doors. The landing gear legs are fixed in flight and cannot be retracted. The main legs are located below the lateral axis. The structure consists of composite materials and titanium, and the interior of the cockpit is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital control system.

In addition to the two crew members, there are seats for twenty-seven people.

The AC313 is flexible enough to meet different market needs - it can be set up to carry passengers (including VIPs) and cargo loads. In addition to the internal cargo compartment that can store approximately 8,800 pounds of cargo, external slings mounted under the aircraft can carry an additional 11,000 pounds.

In addition to this capability, there is the inherent ability of a powerful helicopter to reach high altitudes and cold areas within China that other products cannot.

In addition to operating over China, once certified in these regions, the AC313 will also be available to customers in Europe and the United States.
