History of Rostech (Luch) Korsar
Russia is quickly catching up in the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) game. Meet Corsair, a versatile drone developed by the Luch Design Bureau. It's designed to handle various tasks like surveillance and reconnaissance, even electronic warfare.
Corsair made its debut in 2015 and strutted its stuff at the 2018 Moscow Victory Day parade. There's also a navy version called "Korsar-M."
This sleek drone weighs around 440 lbs, has a wingspan of 21.3 ft, and can fly up to 95 mph. It's got a range of 560 miles and can stay airborne for eight hours.
By the end of 2020, Corsair was undergoing testing with the Russian Armed Forces, and they might have three up and running by 2022. It's likely seen action in Syria alongside Russian forces.
