History

The 30 cm Nebelwerfer 42 (NbW 42) is another WWII (1939-1945) rocket launcher designed and developed by Germany, which is basically the same in form and function as the previous 1942 21 cm NbW 42, although designed and developed by us From larger caliber rockets. Introduced in 1943, the NbW 42 included several improvements to the rocket design - the proven propellant was more efficient, increasing the range of the original while reducing the resulting launch smoke, making the launch area (and operators ) remains exactly ahead. Anti-Protection - Attack of the enemy.

The 30cm (300mm) caliber was adopted as a direct successor to the existing 280mm and 320mm lines, and design work was carried out on the 30cm NbW 42 between 1940 and 1943, the system being commissioned in 1943. It served its intended role until the end of the war in 1945, with only 700 to 950 units (various sources) of which ended up being manufactured before the end of the war.

The 30cm NbW-42 rocket is paired with a two-wheeled rubber tire sled for towing and contains an orbital system that deploys six high-explosive (HE) battlefield rockets. Like other Nebelwerfer rockets, the 30cm rocket NbW 42 is stabilized along its trajectory by rotational motion rather than by stabilizing fins. The launch process is triggered from a safe distance to protect the launch crew from the exhaust fumes of the launch rocket.

While this weapon system exerts much-needed psychological and physical effects on the enemy, they can only target the entire area in saturation, and for the 30cm NbW 42, the weapon can only fire all six missiles in sequence, one missile on the other time, because weapons cannot simply fire missiles. Resupply is a time-consuming process and relies on crew teams and ammunition resupply vehicles.

When complete, the 12-inch (30-cm) long NbW 42 weighs approximately 2,400 pounds and requires a crew of six to operate effectively. The rocket weighed 280 pounds and had an official caliber of 301 mm, and its explosive warhead consisted of about 100 pounds of HE filler. The carriage hardware allows the rocket launch track to traverse 45 degrees with a traverse angle of up to 30 degrees, although the entire unit can rotate on its wheels to allow a 360-degree traverse.

The missile fires at a muzzle velocity of 750 feet per second and has a maximum range of 5,000 yards. Like other German rocket launchers of the war, the 30 cm Nebelwerfer 42 was operated by members of the special group "Nebeltruppen" under the German Army.
