Advanced Tactics Panther

History

Advanced Tactics Panther is marketed as an autonomous surveillance/delivery sUAS (small unmanned aerial system). Its intrinsic value lies in its ability to travel on the ground (like a small truck) and lift off when needed (with a helicopter-like capability - vertical take-off and landing (VTOL)). The latter is accomplished with six small engines mounted on six separate short wings along the sides of the vehicle's roofline.

A high-resolution camera in front of the vehicle fuselage provides a real-time view of the action ahead. The drivability features of the design are available in 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive for navigating flat or rough terrain.

Inside, the small robotic vehicle can carry up to 10 pounds of cargo and offers various mission loading options, such as additional cameras, specialized sensors, and a controllable robotic arm for manipulating items. The flight system is programmable, and a degree of autonomy is possible.

At this point, Panther was marketed as a commercial product for use in industries such as wildlife conservation, geological surveys, construction/bridge assessments essentially roles that did not require direct field operations. Advantages - Detecting human presence (e.g. observing wildlife from a distance). The vehicle is also able to reach areas isolated from humans without having to call in a full-scale manned helicopter - delivering medical supplies/water to those in need, locating injured persons in very rough terrain, and collecting environmental samples in potentially lethal areas .

As designed, this product has an overall length of 44 inches, a height of 13.5 inches, and a width of 43.2 inches (including propeller blades, 29 inches, motor arms stowed). The curb weight is 44 pounds and the travel speed is up to 5 miles per hour.

The range is up to 60 miles on the ground and 6 miles in the air (up to 80 km/h). sUAS can hover for up to ten minutes.
