The story of Chu Che's wife

The Chuch'e-Po was developed by the North Korean military industry as a platform for self-propelled guns (SPG). Based on the chassis of the indigenous Ch'onma-ho (MBT) main battle tank, the system consists of five different tracked vehicles carrying a variety of heavy artillery (all Soviet-era).

One variant carried the 122mm D-30, while the other was armed with the 122 D-74 series gun. 130mm M-46 and 152mm ML-20 were also observed. Another variant is equipped with the SM-4-1 130mm howitzer system.

Regardless of the weaponry, these vehicles are intended to serve as heavy rear fire support weapons for the North Korean military. Their tracked nature gives them good off-road capability, and their guns, despite their Cold War origins, are proven battlefield commodities.

The Chuch'e-po vehicle replaces the old Tokch'on SPG and plays the same role on the battlefield. A key advantage of the Chuch'e-Po tanker is the fully enclosed turret design, which the earlier Tokch'on lacked.
