History of Fostech Arms Origin-12
Semi-automatic shotguns are a welcome departure from previous single- and double-barreled forms. The semi-auto feature means every round requires a trigger pull, improving ammo capacity and overall accuracy for multiple rounds.
The Origin-12 tactical shotgun product is in the same category as the popular Russian-made Saiga-12, released in 2014 as another Kalashnikov-based semi-automatic shotgun product. It is suitable for the military, law enforcement and sports shooting markets.
Alliance Armament managed the one-year development phase, while Fostech Arms took over production.
As a Kalashnikov-based weapon, the Origin-12 uses a proven pneumatic bolt and magazine system. The last-round lockout feature comes in handy, and the weapon has a nickel Teflon coating on the inside for ruggedness and reliability in the field. Exterior finishes include Full Hard Black, Hard Black with Internal Hard Nickel, and Full Hard Nickel. The quick-change barrel feature helps prevent overheating and breakage.
The foldable stock adds compactness and also allows firing from the folded position. Supports a variety of holding styles, and the thumb lock is dexterous and ergonomic. An integrated dust cover protects the critical internals of the gun in dusty and dirty environments. The charging handle is located on the upper left side of the receiver and attaches to the lightweight bracket and bolt assembly.
The rail section allows attachments to be mounted and is supported by traditional flip-up iron sights.
A standard 5-round detachable magazine is the base magazine, along with 8- and 10-round magazines. The Origin 12 series also includes 20-round and 30-round drum magazines.
