History
For decades, the Spanish military industry has developed many indigenous solutions to local needs and has proven to be a capable player on the world stage. Founded in 1943 during World War II, Instalaza SA focused on infantry weapons and developed the MAT-120 mortar cluster munition system, the Alhambra grenade and the C90 series of anti-tank rocket-propelled (RPG) missiles. arms.
The latter is a 90mm caliber single-shot armoured solution that has served with the Spanish Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Guardia Civil. It has also found a home in inventories in Colombia, Ecuador, Estonia, India, Italy (special forces), Indonesia and Malaysia.
The C90 system includes a foldable fiberglass/plastic launch tube with integrated optics and shoulder strap. The total weight is 4.8kg and the length reaches 940mm. The projectile is a 90mm ammunition with a tandem high-explosive (HE) warhead and has an effective range of up to 300 meters. 2x optical sights help operators reach moving targets during the day or night.
The CR-90 series is similar in many respects to the American M72 LAW in that both are shoulder fired and disposable after a single use.
The C90 launcher is capable of firing multiple types of projectiles, both against armored structures and fortifications - its 90mm caliber makes it quite useful against a variety of target types. The "C" projectile is effective against armor up to 200 meters and concrete up to 1,000 mm.
The "C-AM" round is an anti-tank/anti-personnel solution that penetrates concrete up to 600mm thick. The "CR" round is an anti-tank ammunition that has a range of up to 300mm and can penetrate concrete up to 1,000mm thick.
The CR-RB is a close second, but with greater penetration into both armor up to 480mm and concrete up to 1,200mm. "CR-AM" is a multi-purpose bullet with penetration power of 220mm steel and 600mm concrete.
