KBP A-91

History

Although the A-91 Assault Rifle is from the same family as the A-91 series of assault weapons developed by KBP (including the 9A-91 Assault Carbine), it has one difference in that it has a "bull-type" for ultimate use "Configure the compactness of the field. The result is a solid weapon of Russian origin, with limited acceptance by the Russian military and some select police forces since the 1990s.

Unlike other assault rifles, the A-91 is equipped with an integrated 40mm grenade launcher. This weapon fires various types of warheads from the VOG-25 series of shells, which are already in circulation with the Russian Armed Forces and Russian military customers around the world. All told, the entire system weighs 9.5 pounds, while its 16.3-inch barrel assembly measures 26 inches in length. The handle is integrally formed for easy transportation.

The overall structure consists of polymers and common metals.

The A-91 was primarily used to mount the ubiquitous Soviet/Russian 7.62x39mm rifle cartridge, but was also marketed as the 5.56A-91 in 5.56x45mm NATO form. Aside from the barrel length, this version has slightly different overall dimensions and is apparently marketed to Western-leaning government troops and special law enforcement agencies. In both forms, the weapon is fed from a curved, detachable 30-round magazine that is inserted into a retaining slot under the rear of the receiver - basically the area that forms the shoulder rest.

To protect the shooter while firing, the A-91 is equipped with an extraction system that ejects spent cartridges forward and away from the front (a disadvantage of most bullpup guns). Additionally, the left-hand function is adjustable, making the A-91 an ambidextrous weapon.

The weapon features a proven pneumatic breech that utilizes the rotating bolt function to achieve a rate of fire of 600 to 800 rounds per minute at a muzzle velocity of 2,350 feet per second. Effective range of up to 1,000 meters, aiming via the included diopter.
