History
The Chinese Type 67 is a direct production copy of the Soviet PK series of automatic weapons developed in the early 1960s. By using successful components from other production machine guns, such as the British Bren and Czech ZB26 systems, the Type 67 - just like the PK before it - could be used in a variety of military roles.
These roles may include squad support (carrying handles, bipods and barrel exchange systems come in handy), continuous fire roles when mounted on heavy tripods, vehicle mounts for self-defense or anti-aircraft missions, and aircraft for helicopters and light duty The stand of the attack aircraft.
Developed in the early 1970s to replace current outdated Soviet equipment in Chinese inventories, this weapon is in every way a perfect fit for the many roles it conferred, as represented by the Soviet PK version of the system like that.
