History
In 1975, the former Czechoslovakia introduced a new type of portable shoulder-fired anti-tank weapon - the RPG-75 rocket-propelled grenade. The weapon is similar to the American M72 LAW (Light Anti-Tank Weapon) and is specifically designed as a single-shot disposable system to be discarded after use.
The RPG-75 was influenced by the Soviet RPG-18 series that appeared in 1972 and was adopted by many Soviet customers from Armenia and Azerbaijan to Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
The RPG-75 has a caliber of 68 mm and an overall length of 890 mm. Like the RPG-18 and LAW systems, the RPG-75 lengthens when loaded, bringing its compact folded length to a manageable 633mm. Muzzle velocity is rated at 620 feet per second, with a maximum engagement range of up to 985 feet. Sightings were carried out through a tin fitting.
Total weight is 7 lbs. The launched fin-stabilized projectile has up to 300mm of Rolling Homogeneous Armor (RHA) penetration.
Finally, some salient features of the RPG-75 emerge. Models based on this model were simply referred to as RPG-75, while the 2009 RPG-75-TB was an improvement that introduced a thermobaric warhead. RPG-Nh-75 and RPG-Cv-75 are used for training, while RPG-Sk-75 is another special variant.
The RPG-75 saw a modest operator arsenal and became the frontline weapons solution at the time. These include factions in Algeria, Georgia, Poland, Sierra Leone, Slovenia and Syria.
Available Czechoslovak stocks fell into the hands of the newly formed Czech Republic after the fall of the Soviet Empire.
