Sarsilmaz Kilinc 2000 (ArmaLite AR-24)

History

Turkey's military industry has boomed in recent years, and its influence has enabled more domestic solutions to be found for local defense needs. Introduced in 2007, the Sarsilmaz "Kilinc 2000" is a locally manufactured semi-automatic pistol used in the Turkish army and some police forces. It is basically a traditional semi-automatic design that relies on a locked recoil short recoil principle while providing a chamber for the ubiquitous German 9x19mm Luger Parabellum pistol cartridge.

The 10, 13 and 15 round magazines are available in two main versions - the Turkish Kilinc 2000 and the AR-24, the latter being the ArmaLite released variant for the US market. Kilinc 2000 guns are manufactured in Turkey by Sarsilmaz Silah Sanayi.

Visually, the design cues of the Kilinc 2000 are consistent with many semi-automatic pistols in the armed forces. Its upper part is mainly a heavy duty milled slide, treated with manganese phosphate to prevent general corrosion and wear. Therefore, the frame is made of solid forged steel. Depending on the model, the total weight is about 35 ounces and the total length reaches 8.27 inches.

Aiming is through a fixed or adjustable arrangement, depending on the installation. The main form ArmaLite focuses on are AR-24/15 Standard, AR-24/15C Tactical Custom and AR-24K/13 Compact / AR-24K/13C Compact Tactical Custom sub-variants of several main forms - their guns of choice Tubes vary in length, ammo count and handle.
