History
While guided missiles, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), anti-tank mines (ATs) and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are the more common and authoritative means of deterring modern main battle tanks or heavy armored vehicles, anti-tank missiles -tank/anti- Material Rifle (AMR) remains a low-cost, portable solution in gaming. These guns typically fire large caliber cartridges: . 50 BMG, 12.7mm, 14.5mm and even 20mm projectiles are used in various designs around the world. In 2004, Steyr Mannlicher from Austria launched the HS.
The 50-series AMRs are aimed at a caliber type that the Armed Forces have focused on west-facing - the .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun).
Unlike other mainstream AMRs, which rely heavily on semi-automatic action fed from the detachable box magazine HS. The 50 originally used a manual bolt system attached to an integral magazine. It has since been marketed with a five-round detachable magazine feature (via the HS.50 M1 model). All other aspects of the weapon remain traditional - adjustable stock, collapsible bipod assembly, oversized slotted muzzle brake and optics (Picatinny rail) located above the receiver. The total weight is approximately 29 pounds, the overall length is 54 inches, and the barrel is 33 inches long.
The barrel is cold hammered and slotted for cooling. Effective range up to 1,500 meters.
Beyond HS. 50 and HS. 50 M1 models, the range also includes HS. 460 This is for. 460 Steyr Cartridge. This model is primarily aimed at the civilian arms market, where .50 BMG is illegal.
HS. Series 50 weapons are produced by various armed groups in Argentina (army), Cameroon, Palestine (Hamas), Iran (also locally - and illegally - produced under the name AM-50 "Sayad"), Iraq (militias) Troop production, Mexico (special forces), Russia (special forces) and Syria (by acquiring the Iranian AM-50 Sayyad).
The AM-50 has been in service during the ongoing Syrian civil war (since 2011).
