History of the Zbroyar Z-10

The Zbroyar Z-10 is a state-of-the-art Ukrainian-origin sniper rifle chambered for the ubiquitous 7.62x51mm NATO standard full power rifle cartridge. The weapon is a local development of the proven American AR-10, arranged by Ukrainian concern Zbroyar (founded in 2004).

It is known that it is actively used by the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This unit and the aforementioned weapons have been found in the ongoing war against Russia and its backed separatists in the Donbass.

The form and function of this rifle largely mimics the modern Armalite AR-10, including the upper and lower receiver sections. Other components are brought together from other overseas suppliers to form this precision-focused battlefield solution.

The result is a powerful long-range semi-autonomous system used to fulfill the roles of Special Forces sniper and designated marksman (DM).

The weapon has a fully adjustable stock with a long rail visible above the receiver and handguard, providing attachment points for various optics including night vision and thermal sights. A collapsible bipod can be mounted under the guard to provide support when prone or behind a wall. The pistol grip is M-16 style sloping back, and the magazine feeder is just in front of the trigger block to accept a curved detachable box magazine. The trigger has an oversized loop to allow use with gloved hands.

As usual, the ejection port is set on the right side of the frame, and loading is via a 10- or 20-round box. The muzzle brake is slotted and extends beyond the handguard - a silencer can be added for concealed operation.
