History of the Fabrique Nationale FN TPS (Tactical Police Shotgun)

Fabrique Nationale, a Belgian agency, manufactures the FN Police 12-gauge shotgun, known as the FN "Tactical Police Shotgun" in the US. This pump-action shotgun is renowned for its reliability and compact design, suitable for both military and civilian applications. It features an 18-inch barrel in the base model, with a more tactical 14-inch version available. The shotgun has a simple, modern design with a rectangular receiver, a bottom-loading tubular magazine, and a visible safety device near the trigger.

As a pump-action shotgun, the FN Police is manually cycled, enabling the chamber to be cleared and new shells loaded. The full-barrel version holds 7+1 12-gauge shells, while the shorter version has a 4+1 capacity. In the US market, the tactical police shotgun variant includes an M16-style retractable stock, a separate pistol grip, and rails for various sights. An iron front sight is mounted above the muzzle for aiming.

The FN Police shotgun has evolved to fulfill a range of roles, such as door breaching, close-quarters combat, home defense, crowd control, target shooting, and hunting. Its versatility and reliability have made it a popular choice for a wide array of applications.
