Silenced combat pistols continue to captivate the interest of the public and Hollywood, playing a crucial role in covert military operations across major global military powers, particularly in special forces missions.
The QSW-06, adopted by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China in 2006, is a suppressed sidearm designed for 5.8x21mm cartridges. Weighing less than a kilogram, the pistol has an overall length of 195mm (excluding the silencer) and a barrel length of 120mm. It utilizes a proven semi-automatic recoil with a locked recoil and a non-rotatable barrel lock based on the short recoil principle.
Developed to replace the aging QSW-67 silent pistol, the QSW-06 is a polymer-framed, short recoil-operated, semi-automatic pistol with similarities to the QSZ-92. Notably, it employs a non-rotating barrel lock, distinguishing it from the QSZ-92's rotating barrel. Chambered for the subsonic DCV05 5.8x21mm round, the QSW-06 reduces noise compared to standard pistol rounds. It can also fire the standard PLA pistol round, the DAP92 5.8x21mm, and features a twenty-round magazine, a rail under the barrel for accessories, and a detachable suppressor that can be attached to the barrel. The design process, initiated in 2002, culminated in production beginning in 2006 after extensive testing in various weather conditions.
