The Type 96 Falcon is a large-bore bolt-action rifle chambered for a 12.7mm cartridge, primarily designed to target lightly armored vehicles but also devastating against human targets. Originally intended for machine guns, it can fire .50 caliber and Russian DshK cartridges from the same barrel, but further development revealed better performance with dedicated barrels for each cartridge. Consequently, the production model, designated as Type 96, was released with two barrels.
Operating through a repeating lever on the right side, the Type 96 Falcon comes equipped with a standard 10x40 optical sight and allows users to use a detachable 5-round magazine or manual loading for the 12.7mm ammo. It features a distinctive muzzle brake at the end of the barrel and a collapsible bipod system for enhanced stability. The barrel can be easily replaced using engagement screws and levers, offering flexibility and adaptability in various scenarios.
