History of Blohm and Voss Bv Ae 607

German focus Blohm & Voss is mainly remembered as a shipyard, but they also provided many of the more unorthodox aircraft entries that appeared during World War II (1939-1945). One of the concepts is to use the work of Ph.D. for fighter jet design. Richard Vogt's name eventually became associated with B&V's long line of aircraft, serving various transports, airships, interceptors and fighter jets.

For the Bv Ae 607 ("Project 607") design study, he chose a flying-wing approach based on a turbojet-powered delta-wing fuselage.

The engines are 2 Heinkel-Hirth HeS 011 turbojets, each producing 2,866 pounds of thrust. A crew member sat amidships to the port side of the plane's flat fuselage. This arrangement enables the starboard center area to accommodate the large turbojet unit and promotes a more balanced, aerodynamically improved end product.

The only vertical surface used is a small fin on the tail for control and stabilization, while height control is provided by two small canards mounted to the front of the design, spanning a single air intake that forms the nose. While the landing gear is wheeled and retractable, it relies on an unconventional "tail" arrangement, with two full-length main legs and two short tailwheel legs, for a total of four legs - which is very important for any aircraft It's all a strange feature then or after.

The weapon revolves around 3 x 30mm MK 108 series guns, which will be mounted on the nose.

In any case, the Bv Ae 607 was only spent as a company "paper airplane" project, as neither the model nor the prototype came to fruition. The design eventually made military aviation history and joined many other B&V projects that emerged during the war.

All performance specifications attached to the aircraft are estimates. Some announced dimensions include an 8-meter wingspan and a 7.1-meter length.
