History of the Bombardier Global 7500 (Global 7000)
Canada-based Bombardier Aerospace is developing its upcoming "Global 7000" business market/VIP travel jet with the aim of being a success. So far, orders have been confirmed with Australia (AVWest), Canada (London Air Services), Switzerland (Comlux/VistaJet Holding SA) and the US (NetJets), although increasing delays to the programme mean services are no longer required Until sometime in 2018 a full two years behind schedule.
The aircraft will compete in the long-haul market, covering routes such as Washington to Beijing. It sees direct competition from the likes of the Gulfstream G550/G650 family and products from Airbus and Boeing Bizjet.
Its external configuration is the traditional configuration of a business jet. The aircraft features two new GE "Passport" turbofan engines (designed for the Global 7000 platform) mounted on short tail fins on either side of the rear fuselage.
These engines are designed with a high bypass ratio and provide 16,500 pounds of thrust. It is expected to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions performance. Therefore, the cockpit remains at the very forward end of the tubular hull and offers an all-glass approach for its two crew members. Sidestick controls are standard and support fly-by-wire (FBW). The passenger area seats eight in luxurious comfort with four separate living areas.
A crew sleeping area has also been added. The main wing of the aircraft is the attachment mounted low and swept back, while being covered by winglets as a further measure of efficiency.
The rear wing is a single rib design with high mounted horizontal planes connected to form a traditional "T" shape.
Bombardier Global's current product range includes the Global Express, Global 5000 and Global 6000 brands, as well as the upcoming Global 7000 and Global 8000 brands.
