History of the Dassault Falcon 2000

The Falcon 2000 was developed from its predecessor, the Falcon 900, a business jet (BizJet) built by France's Dassault Aviation for the purpose of lucrative business competition in the VIP transport market. This variant has been actively produced since 1995, with more than 600 units produced for use worldwide.

Operators include the Bulgarian Air Force, the Japanese Coast Guard, the Slovenian Air Force and Air Defense Agency, the Republic of Korea (South Korea) Air Force, the French Aerospace Forces and the Royal Thai Police.

Other Falcon-related products in this Dassault family include the Falcon 2000S, Falcon LXS, Falcon 900LX, Falcon 6X, Falcon 7X and Falcon 8X. The Falcon 2000 benefits from Dassault's dedicated work on its military fighter family, which is currently led by the multirole Rafale fighter.

The layout of the aircraft follows the tried and true BizJet form, with a low-mounted wing main aircraft (with swept back), a traditional single-tail fin and two pairs of turbofan engines with short wings mounted near the rear of the fuselage superior. Major aircraft have winglets for improved fuel efficiency and extra control.

The cockpit houses its operating crew side-by-side, each with a duplicate control scheme. The cockpit is located above the short nose cone and provides good visibility. The retractable tricycle assembly makes ground walking possible.

Access is via hinged hull side doors aft of the cockpit area - the cabin wall doubles as a built-in staircase.

The cockpit is a fully modern facility in which both pilots can sit comfortably. The control yoke is located directly in front of each crew member.

Four large, full-color multifunction displays dominate the instrument panel, with throttle and system controls shared between the two seats in the center console. The cabin can be furnished according to the customer's requirements and offers the luxury amenities expected of a business jet of this type, including galleys, restrooms, enlarged portholes for viewing and natural light, and relaxing leather-covered seats.

Dimensions include a barrel length of 66.3 feet, a wingspan of 63.4 feet, and a height of 23.1 feet. Curb weight is 20,735 pounds.

The original 1994 model, simply known as the Falcon 2000, was equipped with a CFE738-1-1B series turbofan engine. The Falcon 2000EX was subsequently switched to the PW308C turbofan engine.

The aircraft was marketed under the Falcon 2000EX EASy designation and eventually received updated avionics and support systems.

The Falcon 2000DX was released in 2007 with many improvements to the EASy series. This variant is powered by two reliable and proven Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PW308C turbofan engines, each producing 7,000 pounds of thrust, propelling the aircraft to a speed of 530 mph and a range of 3,740 miles . His service cap is 50,000 feet.

The plane's "outriggers" allow it to travel from Paris to New York and west to Dubai, which is great for high-profile clients. The Falcon 2000 is also known for its short field takeoff/landing capability and "hot high altitude" capability.

The Falcon 2000LX has increased combat range, the most notable change being the addition of winglets at the tip of the main aircraft. Released in 2011, the Falcon 2000S has improved short-field performance and increased fuel efficiency. The 2014 Falcon 2000LXS continues the lineage of the 2000LX, combining the short-range performance of the 2000S while maintaining its long-range capabilities.
