The Story of Nurol Ejder Yalcin

The Ejder Yalcin is the most advanced light armored 4x4 vehicle built by Nurol Makina in Turkey. Built for harsh urban combat/security operations, the vehicle features built-in off-road capabilities on a versatile platform that can be configured for a variety of battlefield roles.

Launched in the second half of the 2000s, the vehicle is currently in service with the armed forces of Georgia, Hungary, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Qatar. Also available in 6x6 wheel shape.

The vehicle is powered by a diesel-powered 6-cylinder Cummins turbo unit, delivering 300 to 400 hp to a 4x4 wheel arrangement. As usual, the engine is mounted in the front end, with the driver and passenger compartments directly behind it. High ground clearance and a sprung chassis give the vehicle excellent off-road maneuverability, while the wheels ensure a smooth driving experience on paved roads.

Run-flat tires ensure that the vehicle emerges from a deteriorating situation in time.

Basic Armored Combat Vehicles (ACVs) are at the forefront of the entire portfolio of combat-ready vehicles, including Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), Ambulances, Command and Control (CC2), Airspace Deterrence and Missile Carriers. Thus, typical weapons with overhead weapon stations can take over the roles - surface-to-air missiles for air defense operations, anti-tank missiles (ATGMs) for killing tanks, and so on.

The integration of a Remote Weapon Station (RWS) is mentioned to keep the crew out of the way.

The versatility of the vehicle transcends its various forms and extends to its field capabilities??: able to cross 1.1 meters of water, climb obstacles 0.5 meters high, and traverse ditches 1.1 meters wide , traverse grades up to 30% and climb grades up to 60%.

The basic design accommodates nine passengers with some basic comfort. Powered fans help extract gunpowder fumes from the cabin in the event of a fire. Steering is servo-assisted. Armor protection is against small arms fire, artillery spray and some mines/improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
