History of the JSC Uran-6

The Russian Army has incorporated the 6-ton "Uranium-6," an unmanned vehicle, to undertake perilous tasks traditionally performed by humans on the battlefield. Primarily designed for crucial demining operations, this robotic vehicle has been in service since 2014 and has seen deployment in various conflict zones, including Chechnya, Syria, and Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan. Equipped with a mine flail, robotic arm, and other tools, the Uran-6 is remotely operated by a ground operator positioned up to 1 km away, ensuring safety during demining missions in densely populated cities or remote areas.

Measuring 14.6 feet in length, 6.56 feet in width, and 4.89 feet in height, the compact Uran-6 is easily transportable using traditional Russian military trucks and can be rapidly deployed. Its versatility extends to tactical airlifts, fitting within the cargo compartment of helicopters or transporters. Propelled by a 240 hp diesel engine, the Uran-6 achieves a road speed of 5 km/h and operates for approximately five hours continuously. With a wheeled track design, the vehicle exhibits off-road capability, navigating 20-degree angles and climbing 4-foot obstacles.

The Uran-6's robust construction, including armor protection, enables it to withstand minor explosions with minimal impact on its core operating system. Tested with 132 pounds of explosive material, the vehicle showcases resilience and reliability in the face of hazardous conditions on the battlefield, making it a valuable asset for the Russian Armed Forces.
