The Steregushchiy-class guided missile frigate of the modern Russian Navy is currently (2018) the fifth ship in service, although a total of about 24 ships are planned according to the design criteria (6 currently under construction and 7 completed). represents the state-of-the-art "stealth-centric" missile-armed frigate in service, a class that will be well represented in the Russian Navy's inventory for the foreseeable future. From the 1970s to the 1990s, the class was used as the successor to the Grisha-class ships, and was itself succeeded by the Gremyashchiy class (a senior direct offshoot of the Steregushchiy class).

One of her numbers was Soobraziteinyy (531), which became the second ship of its class. She was laid by Severnaya Verf on May 20, 2003 and launched on March 31, 2010. The warship officially entered service with the Russian Navy Fleet on October 14, 2011.

Soobrazitelnyy has a state-of-the-art exterior and board-side superstructure with lines that seamlessly integrate with the actual hull. Projections are kept to a minimum, the warship is generally low, and the full chimney is buried in the superstructure. The bridge is located at the very forward end of the superstructure with impressive forward action and the main (main) mast is closed. The auxiliary mast is mounted further aft and relatively free of protrusions.

The upper structure part of the rear fuselage is stepped, leading to the helipad of the single helicopter.

At the time of construction, the warship had a barrel length of 343 feet, a beam of 36 feet, and a draft of 12 feet. The full-load displacement reaches 2,100 tons.

Her propulsion scheme is a combined diesel and diesel unit (CODAD) with 4 x 16D49 series diesel units outputting 24,000 hp for general driving and sprinting maneuvers. The system powers a twin shaft assembly under the stern, propelling the vessel to a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 27 knots.

With a crew of around 100 on board, the ship is stocked with items that allow the ship to stay at sea for up to 15 days before needing supplies. The "Furke-E" system serves as the ship's main air search radar component, and the TK-25E-5 unit is suitable for the ship's electronic warfare (EW).

4 x PK-10 decoy launchers for defensive purposes.

The weapon kit is a mixed arsenal of projectile and missile types, led by a 100mm A-190 "Arsenal" deck gun and a foredeck turret. As part of the Redut weapon system, a 32-cell launcher unit supports 9M96E/E or 9M100 series missiles. 8 x 3M24 "Uranium" missiles (the same ones used in the powerful S-400 land-based air defense system detailed elsewhere on this site) provide the ship with airspace denial capability, while close-range defense is provided by 2 x AKs. 630M Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) and 2 x 14.5mm MTPU Trainable Heavy Machine Guns (HMG).

The ship is also equipped with 2 x 330mm torpedo tubes in quad launchers for anti-ship/anti-submarine work. In addition, Soobraziteinyy can support a Kamov Ka-27 naval helicopter (or similar) for anti-ship/anti-submarine missions, as well as over-the-horizon (OtH) work. The helipad is located aft.
