ARX Robotics GEREON

History

The ARX Robotics GEREON is a medium-sized tracked unmanned ground vehicle designed for military and commercial missions. Its modular architecture allows operators to install different payloads for logistics, casualty evacuation, surveillance, electronic warfare, and other tasks.

GEREON can operate under manual or autonomous control. ARX Robotics describes the platform as battlefield-proven and uses its Mithra operating system to connect vehicles, manage software, and support adaptable autonomous functions.

The transfer of GEREON vehicles to Ukraine was first announced in November 2024. Experience from Ukraine subsequently influenced the platform's development and its use in multinational military experiments.

Combat GEREON

In 2025, ARX Robotics presented Combat GEREON, a combat-oriented development of the GEREON RCS platform. The company developed it with the Ukrainian company Frontline and Slovakia's Valhalla Turrets. The concept places unmanned vehicles in dangerous areas before troops for reconnaissance, route clearance, forward observation, and other high-risk missions.

Combat GEREON can carry a Ukrainian Buria remote weapon station equipped with an Mk 19 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. This configuration provides remotely operated fire support. Combat GEREON was scheduled to make its first public appearance at the DSEI 2025 exhibition in London.

Series production

In October 2025, ARX Robotics and DEUTZ established a strategic partnership to scale production and integrate DEUTZ powertrain technology with Mithra OS. In July 2026, the companies announced the start of industrial series production at the DEUTZ plant in Ulm, Germany. The first Ulm-built systems were scheduled for delivery to Ukraine from late summer 2026.

The production program initially covers the battery-electric GEREON. ARX Robotics and DEUTZ also plan to develop smaller combustion and hybrid power systems. Project Convergence–Capstone 6

ARX Robotics UK deployed eight GEREON vehicles during the operational and experimental phases of the United States Army's Project Convergence–Capstone 6 at Fort Irwin, California, in 2026. The vehicles supported reconnaissance, counter-unmanned-aircraft missions, electronic warfare, logistics, and casualty evacuation.

The exercise involved forces from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It evaluated more than 100 emerging battlefield technologies at operational scale. Data collected by GEREON vehicles was integrated into brigade-, division-, and corps-level networks.

According to ARX Robotics, the vehicles completed all assigned exercise scenarios while operating over difficult terrain and in desert conditions. They remained connected to allied communications and command-and-control networks. ARX Robotics stated that results from the exercise would support further development of GEREON, Mithra OS, and software-defined ground autonomy.

Design

GEREON uses a compact tracked chassis intended for all-terrain mobility. Its modular attachment system allows the same basic vehicle to carry mission-specific equipment without extensive redesign. The platform can be controlled manually or use autonomous functions.

Thermal night-vision cameras support operation in darkness and reduced visibility. Mithra OS provides the software layer for autonomy, vehicle connectivity, fleet management, and mission adaptation. During Project Convergence–Capstone 6, GEREON vehicles carried L3Harris CORVUS-RAVEN electronic-warfare equipment, MyDefence Watchdog counter-drone sensors, and Overview Podview reconnaissance and target-acquisition equipment. Other supported roles include carrying supplies, transporting heavy equipment, casualty evacuation, surveillance, inspection, and security.

Operational history

Ukraine is the first publicly identified operational destination for GEREON. The transfer of vehicles was announced on 27 November 2024, and ARX Robotics later stated that the platform had gained battlefield experience there. The company subsequently announced plans to increase its GEREON fleet in Ukraine fivefold, although the available sources do not provide exact vehicle quantities.

In August 2026, the participation of eight vehicles in Project Convergence–Capstone 6 demonstrated the platform in a large multinational United States Army experiment. This activity was an evaluation and training deployment rather than confirmation of adoption by the United States Army.
