History
In January 2016, it was announced that Ankara was preparing to build its first domestically produced aircraft carrier as a force projection measure and to support growing military efforts in the region. The warship, currently named TCG Anadolu ("Anatolia"), is likely to take the form and function of a conventionally powered helicopter carrier/amphibious assault ship already in service with countries such as France. Anadolu is expected to be operational around 2021.
The $1 billion project is said to involve Spanish shipyard Navantia. The idea of ??establishing Turkish Airlines is said to have been proposed as early as 2006.
As an active member of NATO, Turkey is a recognized military power with good reason to invest in modernizing its armed forces and expanding its regional capabilities, given the instability of its immediate neighbors including Cyprus, Egypt, Syria, Iran and Iraq - some Activity has spread to the Turkish border. Anadolu's primary mission is to support amphibious operations by launching both landing craft and aircraft at the same time - similar to the mission scope of the modern U.S.
Navy's Landing Platform Dock (LPD) family of warships. The vessel will transport armored vehicles, troops and supplies from ship to shore, while its air force will have a mixed inventory of fixed-wing and rotary-wing systems to provide air cover.
Currently, the ship is 740 feet long and has a displacement of 28,000 tons. It will provide facilities for up to 1,400 personnel (including all crew, pilots and maintenance personnel, and combat infantry) and support dozens of wounded with comprehensive onboard medical services - adding humanity to the ship's inherent capabilities ideological support.
The Air Force is also said to include support for the upcoming fleet of Lockheed F-35 "Lightning II" strike fighter jets (detailed elsewhere on this site), as well as a new generation of Turkish indigenous attack helicopters ("TAI T-129 ATAK") that will also be There are built-in regulations for the transport and launch of main battle tanks (assumed to be Altay main battle tanks) and ships, the latter being used by special forces as needed.
The Turkish Navy follows China's desire to deploy a full-fledged aircraft carrier solution - which remains a modern symbol of the world's maritime power. As a result, the United States has the largest fleet of aircraft carriers in the worldmany of its major "supercarrier" types are nuclear-powered and can accommodate thousands of personnel.
