Beretta Px4 Storm

History

The Italian arms company Beretta has been making firearms since 1526 and semi-automatic pistols since the First World War (1914-1918). The state-of-the-art Px4 semi-automatic pistol was launched in 2004 to challenge competitors in the global law enforcement and self-defense market.

It is a largely traditional semi-automatic weapon with all the usual components and features expected from such a weapon, while introducing several new qualities not commonly found in Beretta pistols.

At the heart of the Px4 is the proven short recoil locking recoil with swivel barrel lock. Externally, the gun acquired a very sleek, sturdy profile. Disassembly of the weapon is facilitated by a disassembly latch, which releases the slider to access internal components.

The hammer is exposed on the back of the case to provide an instant visual up/not up indication. The straps are interchangeable to customize the weapon. Likewise, the magazine release can be replaced with one of the three available button sizes and further configured for right- or left-handed shooters. Polymer construction adds lightweight mass, while high-tolerance areas are made of steel. A section of Picatinny rail (MIL-STD-1913) before the trigger allows the mounting of accessories (usually tactical lights or laser sights).

Aiming is done via a three-point iron sight assembly front and rear on the top of the chute. The total weight without the magazine is about 785 grams, while the gun is 192mm long and has a 102mm barrel.

The Px4 uses Beretta's new slider design, designed to eliminate jamming and make it easier to remove the pistol from the holster. For this, the trigger guard is also round. The bracket also includes ribs along the rear and front of the bracket to aid in steering the assembly.

The direct barrel slide locking system reduces recoil and improves accuracy, which promotes the low barrel axis design feature.

Beretta Px4 is sold in four main forms - full size, compact, ultra compact and special purpose. It is housed in a 9 x 19 mm chamber.

40 Software and .45 Auto, the chosen caliber will also reflect the number of rounds that can fit in a given magazine - as the number of magazines can vary from 9 to 17 rounds depending on the model selected. Flat-head magazines are usually used, but Beretta mentions extended magazine support as well.

As a military weapon, the Px4 Storm has been accepted by several police forces including Argentina, Canada (Border Service), Malaysia, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea and the United States.

The Px4 Storm is part of a family of Beretta weapons called "Storm", which includes the Cx4 Carbine, Mx4 Submachine Gun, and Rx4 Semi-Auto Rifle.
