History

The Harpers Ferry Model 1805 is a flintlock pistol produced at the Harpers Ferry Armory in West Virginia. Founded by the U.S. government in 1799, the company would eventually supply hundreds of thousands of guns for the coming American Civil War. The location of the plant proved to be ideal as the plant was able to take advantage of the natural flow of the nearby Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. The Model 1805 is a product of this prestigious institution, which itself produced over 4,000 examples between 1806 and 1808.

The Model 1805 was selected for service with the U.S. Army, making it the first pistol of its kind to be built in the U.S. Armory.

The design was traditional at the time, with a 10" long steel barrel and curved pistol grip. The trigger is housed in a delicate circular trigger guard to operate the flintlock breech consisting of a hammer rod, battery and flashlight. The hardware is placed on the right side of the wooden body. A plunger rod is placed under the barrel. The cartridge caliber is.
