History
The Heckler & Koch FABARM FP6 Combat Shotgun originated from a partnership between Heckler & Koch in Germany and Fabbrica Bresciana Armi SpA (FABARM) in Italy, when HK and shotgun manufacturer Benelli ended their business partnership in 1998 . FP6 itself was designed around the same time and developed from the FABARM facility, while marketing was handled by Heckler & Koch. Production is currently running (2016).
The FP6 shotgun system ended up weighing 6.6 lbs when equipped with a 20" barrel and had an overall length of 41.25. It is designed to fire 2.75" or 3" long 12-gauge rounds, fed from a 5+1 or 7+1 magazine (depending on the cartridge), and fed via a manually operated Pump-Action slide system for management .The slider is attached to the tubular magazine as usual (under the barrel) and can be loaded/reloaded through a loading door located under the front end of the receiver.
The spent cartridge is discarded by the operator after being fired through a large port on the right side of the shotgun.
Four versions of the FP6 shotgun have been released, released by the group led by FP6 Standard (HK Model 40621HS), featuring a 20" long Tribore barrel with perforated heat shield, a synthetic stock and all black The finish comes with a small front blade sight to help with accuracy to some extent. The FP6 Carbon Fiber (HK Model 40621 CF), as the name suggests, has a carbon fiber finish, but lacks the standard heat shield. Part of the Picatinny rail leads above the receiver for mounting tactical accessories. The third shotgun offers a compact folding stock and a completely separate pistol grip. It doesn't have a standard heat shield, but retains the carbon model's larger Picatinny rails, and the flipped rear sight is also used.
The FP Entry became a short-barreled version that held 14" finished with a long barrel length, which greatly reduced the length of the weapon. The perforated heat shield on the barrel was restored, and this model also includes part of the Picatinny rail section , featuring a large flip-up rear sight with synthetic shoulder rests.
A matte finish completes the details.
The FP6 ended up in service outside Germany and was counted by various military and police forces in France, Italy, Malaysia and the United States. Malaysian special forces PASKAL have chosen the FP6 as one of their many weapons.
