H-S Precision HTR (Heavy tactical Rifle)

History

The HTR (Heavy Tactical Rifle), manufactured by US-based H-S Precision, Incorporated, is another solid entry into the crowded sniper rifle market for the world's military and law enforcement forces. Well appreciated by operators, the weapon offers excellent accuracy at range.

The entire system weighs 5kg (depending on the accessories installed and barrel length used), with an overall length of 1,130mm (variable) and a barrel length of 606mm (also variable).

The HTR is operated by manual control of a bolt action lever located on the right side of the weapon near the trigger area. All HTR models come standard with a heavily grooved barrel. The cheeks are adjustable for shooter comfort, and the trigger adjusts the pull length. The shaft is a composite construction with aluminum used in full-length spacers. Sections of the Picatinny rail are located above and to the side of the receiver to allow the shooter to use more tactical accessories than usual scopes.

The bipod sits under the front end and can be folded away when not in use.

The HTR has two chamber styles - . 308 Winchester and . 338 La Playa Magnum. Detachable magazines typically hold 4 rounds, although 10-round capacity magazines have also been introduced. Magnum-based cartridges are fed from a smaller 3-round magazine. The initial velocity of the projectile can reach 900 meters per second, and the effective range can reach 800 meters.

The maximum range is up to 1,500 meters.

In addition to its proliferation in the U.S., the HTR has found a home in the Israeli army's stockpile, where it provides long-range service as a standard sniper rifle (where it is known as the "Barak"). The Israeli army is .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge.

So far, Israeli snipers have rated the H-S Precision HTR system highly in real-life conditions.

In addition to serving in the military and law enforcement worlds, the HTR has also proven popular in the competitive shooting world.
