As self-firing shotguns creep into the forefront of firearms, there is something to be said for the inherent power of self-loading shotguns. The Saiga-410 from Izhmash, Russia, is one such device that provides shooters with the consistent quality of repeated shots seen in battle rifles around the world, from a proven true Kalashnikov bloodline.

As such, the 410 series retains some obvious similarities to the famous Soviet-era assault rifle designs, especially in the receiver, and comes from a proven pedigree that most other firearms would envy. Essentially, the Saiga 410 series combines the firing action of a Kalashnikov submachine gun with a .410 cartridge - hence the name "410". The Saiga-410 can fire lead and warhead ammunition from a 2-, 4- or 10-round ammunition supply via a detachable magazine.

That . The 410ga barrel features a smooth barrel design designed to accommodate various chokes on the muzzle required for different propagation effects. Overall, this gun is suitable for small to medium hunting, defense and security and has proven to be an extremely sturdy and reliable firearm since its introduction in 1995.

Visually, the Saiga-410 definitely has a unique look compared to traditional shotgun designs. The appearance of the AK receiver more or less retains its right ejection port, charging handle and high-power selector.

The unique magazine catch of the AK series is also evident in the Saiga 410 design, which is located behind the magazine well. The trigger sits in a nearly rectangular ring, while the magazine has a straight design. Depending on the production model, the stock can be made of wood or polymer and can be fixed, solid or hollow framed (in some versions, in addition, hinged). Depending on the model, the front end can also be made of wood or polymer.

The cylinder was mounted on the barrel under the handguard, which extended forward a little - an arrangement typical of Kalashnikov-style guns. Some 410 models also retain the AK-style front sight, where the end of the cylinder connects to the barrel is clearly visible, and even the AK-style rear sight is clearly visible.

While iron sights are standard, special optics can be mounted to the rear of the receiver top via an accessory rail system for more accurate shooting. Overall, the Saiga-410 has very clean lines without hiding its devastating intent.

The 410 was sold in five different forms, starting with the Saiga-410 base and its fixed solid stock with a barrel length of 570mm (483mm and 612mm available by special order). Saiga-410S has a folding stock and ergonomic polymer pistol grip with a barrel length of 570mm. Saiga-410K has a foldable polymer stock and polymer front end with a shorter barrel length of 330mm. Saiga-410K "01 version" retains the folding stock, the barrel length is 404mm, and the curb weight is 3.1kg. The successor Saiga-410K "version 02" has a skeletonized folding stock (polymer or metal construction), the same 404mm barrel, 3.4 empty weight and a plastic forestock.

Both Version 01 and Version 02 feature "Universal Iron Sights" with ranges of up to 25mm and 50mm depending on the type of ammunition used (buckshot and warhead respectively). Particles are adjustable.

The K model also has a unique feature of folding the stock and locking the trigger to prevent firing.

The default range of basic warhead ammunition is about 100 meters.
