History

The MACS M3 is an unsupported evolution of the original MACS M2, designed by RH-ALAN in Zagreb. The original M2 was designed to be powerful (and proven). The 50 BMG cartridge is classified as an anti-material rifle. This weapon can be used to hit critical components of armored vehicles from a distance as well as fortify targets. The M3 retains the same features as the M2, except for its bullpup configuration, which sets the action and feed from behind the pistol grip.

In this way, it promotes a more compact profile and reduced weight.

The M3 uses the same bolt action mechanism and single shot as the M2. It comes standard with a 10x42 scope and no iron sights are available. The weapon also retains the folding bipod below the front end, as well as the pistol grip feature.

Overall weight is 12kg, compared to 12.4kg for the original M2 model. All performance figures are also on par with the M2.

Launched in 1997, the system continues to serve the Croatian army and has been adopted by the armed forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
