History
The MACS M2 is a locally designed and developed Croatian anti-material rifle. The system is efficient. The 50 BMG ("Browning Machine Gun") cartridge is fired from a single-shot bolt-action mechanism.
The MACS M2 is an anti-materiel sniper weapon that can engage lightly armored and fortified targets at range with disastrous results with its powerful bullets. The weapon could be used to attack particularly vulnerable components of enemy vehicles - even front-line main battle tanks to some extent.
The MACS M2 has a half stock and a skeletal stock with a frontal bipod stock as standard. It features a traditional pistol grip under the receiver, while the frame mimics that of a traditional sports rifle. Due to the lack of iron sights, the MACS M2 was granted the standard 10x42 scope above the receiver.

The M2 has a 58" barrel length and 31" smoothbore. Weighs 27 lbs unloaded. As a single-shot weapon, it lacks magazine propulsion and the associated complexity and maintenance. The operator had to breech a single cartridge with each shot. The muzzle velocity is 2,800 feet per second.
Using a large muzzle brake helps with recoil.
The MACS M3 is a related M2 shape, although configured in the increasingly popular "bullpup" arrangement, now fed as part of the stock behind the pistol grip - making the shape more compact. The M3 is described in detail elsewhere on this site.
