History of the Ruger SR (Series)

The Ruger SR is a line of semi-automatic pistols launched by Sturm, Ruger & Company in 2007. Stay tuned. It is released in a variety of models and chambers to meet customer needs.

Internally, the weapon operates via a short recoil locking breech. Its main cavity is a 9 x 19mm Parabellum, but models are also available. 40 Software and . 45 ACP. Depending on the ammo, the weapon is fed from a detachable magazine with 9, 10, 15 or 17 rounds.

Adjustable sights (3-point iron type) and aftermarket accessories extend the weapon's tactical value to some extent.

The original SR model was the 2007 SR9, which had a 9x19mm Parabellum with a 17-round detachable magazine. A more compact model, the SR9c, was introduced in early 2010. At the end of 2010, the SR40 was launched. The 40 S&W and SR40c are its compact siblings, launched in mid-2011. As the name suggests, the SR45 was developed and released in early 2013 for the . 45 ACP cartridge.

The SR9e became the "economy" version of the SR9, a form factor introduced in 2014.

In addition to the various rifling provided, weapons may have different barrel lengths, which changes the overall length and weight of the sidearms. Overall, this pistol is well-received and reliable, continuing Ruger's long tradition in the small arms market.
