History of Rexim-Favor

The "Rexim-Favor" is a Swiss submachine gun that was made by Rexim Small Arms Company. It was produced from the 1950s until 1957. The company, based in neutral Switzerland, relied on production in Spain for their orders. However, the global market didn't find their products, including the Favor SMG, very useful. The gun was briefly marketed in Spain as the "A Coruna" but didn't gain much popularity.

The design of the Favor features a pistol grip behind the magazine well and a depressed receiver with the charging handle on the right side. The ejection port is also on the right side. The gun has a wire shoulder rest that can be removed for compactness, and the barrel protrudes slightly from the receiver, covered by the front sight. It uses a detachable magazine with 20 rounds, similar to the German MP40 SMG.

Later production models, known as FV Mark 4, had a perforated barrel jacket for cooling. The barrel is designed for quick replacement for cooling purposes. The gun operates on closed bolt recoil with a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute and a muzzle velocity of 1,300 feet per second. It weighs 7.1 lbs, is over 32 inches long overall, and has a barrel length of 10.7 inches.

While the Favor is well-built and modern, it's internally complex and heavy, which limits its ease of transport. The Turkish military was the main foreign user of this gun, naming it the "Type 68". These guns were in use until the mid-1970s.

One notable aspect of the Favor is its resemblance to the blasters used in the Star Wars movies, particularly those used by Imperial stormtroopers.
