History of the Eurometaal Nr20
The Eurometaal Nr20 series of fragmentation grenades was developed for the Royal Netherlands Army as an anti-personnel weapon. These grenades are conventional, mechanically fused projectiles (Nr19C3/20C1 series) with a delayed pyrotechnic firing system, containing both a high explosive charge and a small steel ball charge. The body of these grenades is constructed from plastic.
These grenades have a lethal radius of approximately 16.5 feet and a delay of 3 to 4 seconds. The original Nr20 measures 103mm in length and has a diameter of 60mm, while the Nr20C1 is a modified version with dimensions of 105mm in length and a diameter of 62mm.
Activation of the grenade involves removing the safety pin, which initiates the firing spring, firing pin, and firing mechanism. Inside, there are flash, intermediate, and main charges. These grenades are typically shipped in hard cases that can hold up to 18 grenades.
