History of the UAG-40

The UAG-40 belt-driven automatic grenade launcher is one of many domestic weapons developments that have occurred in Ukraine in recent years. It was developed and manufactured by Kuznja na Rybalskomu, a shipyard and major arms manufacturer in Kyiv on the Dnieper. Kusnja na Rybalskomu, known as Leninska Kuznya since 1924, was renamed in 2017 under new Ukrainian regulations that do not allow references to Soviet times in company names

The UAG-40 is based on an automatic mechanism with a chain grenade launch system (American Metal Chain M 16).

The UAG-40 has a recoil torque reduction system consisting of a friction damping bolt, a muzzle brake and a three-stage barrel.

The main features of the muzzle brake design: the use of the gases produced by the combustion of gunpowder reduces recoil, reduces the momentum of throwing the tube upwards, and reduces the splash of ground particles (where the tripod is located).

The operation of the grenade launcher is carried out using two handles on the back of the body or using a handle and a shoulder rest. The right grip is equipped with a release button and has two modes - single shot and continuous shot.

The trigger button and bolt are equipped with safety locks to prevent unauthorized firing under any circumstances, including falling, shaking, vibration and shock from any direction. Both safety locks are controlled by a lever, which is convenient and reliable.

The UAG-40 is equipped with a mechanical sight that provides sighting at a distance of 1500 meters. All parts of the mechanical sight are located on the handle and are designed to carry the grenade launcher. When folded, the mechanical sight provides aimed fire at a distance of 150 yards and fits perfectly into the grip.

The UAG-40 is also equipped with optical, infrared, TV or electronic sights.

Quickly folds and unfolds the tripod with a weight of 14 kg including the mechanism for the grenade launcher attachment. The tripod comes with an operator seat.

The combined weight of the operator, tripod, grenade launcher and ammo box pushes the tripod towards the group while firing, thus securing its position on any unprepared ground.

The attachment mechanism of the grenade launcher to the tripod allows the rotation angle of the grenade launcher: up - 40, down - 10, left/right - 16; Aim while shooting.

The combined use of all design decisions resulted in the following advantages: the high accuracy of the firing range, low recoil, high reliability and ease of manufacture and maintenance.
