History

Certain groups such as police, security forces and military vehicle staff have always valued a convenient, concealable and reliable submachine gun or a submachine gun for general tasks. In the early 1980s, Jali Timari began designing this weapon, and the resulting product was called the "Jatimatic" (or "Jati-Matic"). The gun proved commercially unsuccessful after its launch in 1983, with only about 400 examples known to have been built. The weapon disappeared in 1986 and reappeared as the GG-95 PDW ("Personal Defense Weapon") under the Golden Gun Ltd brand label.

But it also did not attract much market interest, and was even rejected by the local Finnish military during the evaluation.

The Jatimatic has many of the proven qualities of a modern submachine gun: it can recoil directly, holds a 9x19mm Parabellum pistol cartridge, has a lightweight design and compact dimensions. The pistol grip is mounted in the usual way under the rear of the receiver, with the magazine in the front. The main difference between the Jatimatic and conventional submachine gun designs is the unique shape of the receiver, which is achieved by the upward angle of the bolt recoil assembly. This allows the pistol grip to be set higher in the frame than normal and helps counteract the muzzle lift effect common in automatic weapons.

While the rear of the receiver has a "pinch" look, the front looks normal; the barrel only protrudes slightly at the front end. Under the front of the weapon is a collapsible assembly that doubles as both a foregrip and a charging handle. The receiver is of stamped steel construction.

Aiming is basically forward through an open visor.

The Jatimatic is fed by a detachable 40-round magazine, which can also use the magazines of the local Finnish Carl Gustav submachine gun. The trigger has a two-mode function determined by a "stop", where an initial trigger pull allows a single shot, and a deeper trigger pull beyond that stop is an automatic fire.

Overall weight is 1.65kg and overall length is 14.8 inches. The barrel is 8 inches long. The rate of fire was 600 to 650 rounds per minute, and the muzzle velocity was reported to be 1,180 feet per second. Effective range is 330 feet.

Shows off some of the weapon's notable tactical accessories, including laser sights, 20-round magazines, and silencers.

Compact weapons, despite their inherent accuracy advantages, failed to gain market attention because the operator's trigger pointer was more aligned with the barrel. However, no shoulder rest is part of the Jatimatic design, so for such a small package, there are still accuracy issues with fully automatic fire.

That and some notoriety helped end Jatimatic's days, and attempts to revive the line failed.

Action

Linear recoil; semi-automatic/automatic fire

Semi-automatic

One shot per trigger; self-loading or self-loading action supported by internal mechanisms; stroke management (and initial cocking) typically required by operators; subsequent shots assisted by unlocking/moving bolts.

Automatic

Bullets are automatically ejected from the breech, new bullets are removed from the chuck and inserted into the chamber, and the bullets will fire continuously as long as the trigger is pulled and ammunition is supplied.

Backflush operation

The air pressure created by the rearward movement of the fired case provides the necessary bolt movement, case ejection and stripping of the new case from the magazine.
