Z-20K

History

The Z-20K is a Chinese medium utility helicopter operated by the People's Liberation Army Air Force. It is used for tactical air assault and transport missions, including troop delivery, equipment sling-loading, casualty evacuation and supply transportation.

An August 2026 report by Military Watch Magazine described the deployment and the helicopter's expanding role in these missions.

Design

The exercises included counter-terrorism scenarios involving reconnaissance, counter-reconnaissance, seizure and defence of positions, and clearance and consolidation operations. Helicopter-supported rappelling was used to deliver small groups of personnel directly into the training area.
