History

BlueBird Tech developed the Bebradron as a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle for medium-range tactical missions in Ukraine. The airframe has been verified in real combat conditions. In October 2026, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence codified the Bebradron, permitting its official procurement with state budget funds for the Defence Forces. Military units also gained the right to procure the UAV directly for combat operations at the front line.

Design

The Bebradron is a fixed-wing strike UAV of aeroplane type, launched from a compact pneumatic catapult manufactured by BlueBird Tech. The operator controls the aircraft in real time, receiving streamed video and telemetry data from the airframe. The system uses analog video transmission on 5.8 GHz and radio control at 915 MHz, compatible with existing FPV ground infrastructure including control panels, goggles, and ground stations. Navigation is compass-based with cruise control and auto-takeoff. The aircraft carries no terminal guidance system.

BlueBird Tech announced plans to add a guidance system and camera stabilization in cooperation with the Brave1 cluster. A subsequent upgrade introduced a rotating mast mechanism and wired communication with the ground control station.

Operational history

The Bebradron airframe completed testing in real combat conditions. Following its Ministry of Defence codification in October 2026, the UAV became eligible for official procurement by Ukraine's Defence Forces.

Variants

  • Bebradron — Base fixed-wing strike UAV for medium-range precision strikes against slow-moving targets and infantry concentrations. Carries a warhead of up to 7.5 kg.
  • Bebradron KIT — Modular version introduced in August 2026, allowing units to configure the airframe with their own cameras, video transmitters, flight electronics, and navigation modules. Offered in three readiness levels: Base (airframe only), ARF (airframe with engines installed), and Pro (aircraft with configured flight controller). The base Bebradron airframe on which the KIT is based has already been verified in combat.
  • Bebradron-M — Training variant introduced in August 2026, designed for training pilot and interceptor drone operators. Lacks a warhead (2 kg maximum payload) and cruise control and navigation systems. Foil materials applied to the wings increase radar visibility for counter-reconnaissance training scenarios. Cruising speed 70 km/h, maximum 115 km/h, flight duration up to 25 minutes, radius up to 30 km, operating altitude 200–700 m.

Operators

  • Ukraine — Defence Forces; official procurement enabled by Ministry of Defence codification in October 2026.
