History

The BlueBird Tech Chuyka 4.0 is a Ukrainian radio-frequency detector designed to detect signals associated with unmanned aerial vehicles. The 4.0 modification uses four frequency bands and automatically scans them for relevant radio emissions.

In 2026, BlueBird Tech expanded one of the detector's frequency ranges to cover 2860–4500 MHz. This change enabled detection of signals in the 4–4.5 GHz range, which Russian Molniya attack drones were reported to use frequently.

Testing confirmed stable detection of signals in this frequency range at distances of up to 3 km. Actual detection distance depends on transmitter power, antennas, interference, and other operating conditions.

Frequency-range expansion

The updated 3.3 GHz band covers 2860–4500 MHz. Together with the detector's other bands, Chuyka 4.0 scans four frequency ranges: 1080–2200 MHz, 2860–4500 MHz, 4860–6040 MHz, and 6040–8800 MHz.

The fourth band, covering 6040–8800 MHz, is a defining feature of the 4.0 modification. BlueBird Tech equipped the detector with a separate receiving module and a fourth antenna for this range.

Design

Chuyka 4.0 is configured as a multi-band radio-frequency detector. Despite the increased number and width of its monitored bands, the device completes a full automatic scanning cycle in approximately 4–8 seconds.

The detector has a built-in 5000 mAh battery that provides approximately two hours of operation. A supplied external 10,000 mAh battery pack increases total endurance to approximately six hours.

Detection capability

Tests of the expanded 2860–4500 MHz band demonstrated stable detection of signals in the 4–4.5 GHz portion of the spectrum at distances of up to 3 km. BlueBird Tech stated that real detection distance varies with transmitter power, antenna characteristics, interference, and other environmental or technical conditions.

The frequency expansion was intended in part to improve detection of Russian Molniya attack drones operating with radio signals in the 4–4.5 GHz range.

Operational history

Members of Lithuania's 1031st Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Company named after Antanas Gustaitis demonstrated the use of Ukrainian Chuyka drone detectors during training exercises. BlueBird Tech stated that, as of April 3, 2026, it had no direct contracts with the Lithuanian side for the supply of these detectors.
