History
The Nemyx Vertical Launch System (Nemyx VLS) was unveiled by Auterion on 5 October 2026. The system extends Auterion's Nemyx swarm engine from software into the hardware that puts drones in the air. An Auterion representative confirmed on 9 October 2026 that the VLS deploys interceptor UAVs using the same airframe and autonomy technology as the company's rifle-launched interceptor system, which releases bladed interceptor UAVs designed to engage Group 1 and 2 UAVs. Auterion operates hubs in Arlington, Virginia, and Munich, Germany.
Specifications
The Nemyx VLS is a modular, environmentally sealed launcher. Drones are stacked vertically inside each launch tube, where an electric elevator carries the next drone to the launch position. Auterion states this architecture fits 30% more drones into the same volume than launchers without an elevator. Tubes can be grouped into 2×2 or 4×4 arrays or scaled to fill a full ISO container. Dedicated tubes are available for 10-inch FPVs and interceptors, while a separate container accommodates typical mid-range loitering munitions. An integrated battery runs the system for multiple hours; connected to external power, it can remain forward-deployed for months or years.
Operational use
Any Auterion-powered vehicle can hand a target to the Nemyx VLS and trigger a single launch or a swarm launch. A human designates the target; the Nemyx system then automates the engagement. Stored drones remain connected to the launcher, which charges them, holds them in powered standby, and installs software updates, allowing crews to launch without opening each tube. The system supports short- and mid-range offensive and defensive missions. Auterion did not confirm the number of UAVs the VLS can launch in a swarm at the time of its introduction.
Compatible platforms
Auterion identifies compatible platforms as Skyfall's Shrike first-person-view UAV and P1-SUN interceptor UAV, Airlogix's Seth-X UAVs, Rheinmetall's FV-104 fixed-wing loitering munitions, DeltaQuad UAVs, and Griffon Aerospace's Scourge UAVs. The system is also integrated with leading armored-vehicle manufacturers in the United States and Germany.
Program status
The Nemyx VLS is available to first integration partners. Operators can add or change drone suppliers without replacing the launcher.
