History of CNS Type 093 (quotient)

In 2006, the Chinese Navy (the People's Liberation Army Navy) entered service with a new type of nuclear-powered attack submarine called the Type 093 (NATO codename "Shang"). There are six ships in the class, all of which remained active in the Chinese Navy as of 2017.

All ships are built at the Huludao Bohai Shipyard, adding a significant offensive punch (and a regional strategic deterrent) to the Navy. Serve.

Its design is undoubtedly influenced by Soviet/Russian and Western products. As expected, the hull is tubular, and the sails are set well amidships. At the stern, the planes are arranged in a cross shape, and a single propeller unit is identified. Torpedo ports are all bow mounted and have 6 x 533mm / 650mm tubes.

Inside there is a pressurised water nuclear reactor that powers 2 x steam turbines driving the single shaft stern. The projected underwater speed of the series reaches 30 knots. With its nuclear power plants, its scope is basically limitless. The total displacement is 7000 tons.

Type 093G is a designation reserved for certain members of this class with slightly longer fuselage to accommodate vertical launch systems (VLS) of the YJ-18 and CJ-10 cruise missile types.

The Type 093 will be followed by the Type 094 (four ships, which entered service in 2007), these will be succeeded by the more advanced Type 095, which will come online in 2020.
