History

The Type 052D (Luyang III) is a significant guided missile destroyer in the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), designed as an improved version of its predecessors. As of 2020, over 25 ships of this type are planned, with 16 currently active. This destroyer, weighing 7,500 tons and measuring 528 feet in length, boasts a versatile propulsion system (CODOG) that allows for efficient fuel use in various operational scenarios, achieving speeds of nearly 30 knots.
