History of the Barrett M95
The Barrett M82 was the first famous American. The 50-caliber Anti-Material Rifle (ATR) introduced in 1982. The line evolved with the M82A2 into a "bullpup" version (magazine feed behind the pistol grip/trigger unit) for easy transport. The M82 was redesigned in 1990 as a bolt action variant, with a revised bolt system, continuing to use a bullpup configuration, and using robust service.
50 BMG cartridge. In 1995, the M95 improved upon it.
The M95 is more or less an improved version of the M90. Both the pistol grip and trigger assembly sections are moved slightly forward, closer to the center of the weapon, and for better access to the magazine feeder, which is still at the rear. The bolts and holes are chrome-lined for durability, and the bolt handles have been redesigned for better results.
Internally, the screws themselves have also undergone some minor changes.
The new model is designed for the popular . 50 BMG (12.7x99mm) cartridge and can attack a range of 1,800 meters with a muzzle velocity of 854 meters per second. It was fed from a detachable five-round box magazine and had no standard sighting, so it had to be equipped with optics. The overall length is 45 inches, the barrel length is 20 inches, and the gun weighs 22 pounds. By comparison, the original Barrett M82 was 48 inches long (20-inch barrel) and weighed 30 pounds.
As a result, the M95 is more compact and lighter than earlier products, making it a more portable product in the field.
The M95 continues to be in service with special forces and frontline armies from several operators around the world, including Austria, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Georgia, Italy, Jordan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, Thailand and Turkey.
