Ceska Zbrojovka Scorpion EVO3 Story

In 2001, Ceska Zbrojovka launched the "Scorpion EVO3" series, a state-of-the-art compact submachine gun with a 9x19mm Parabellum pistol cartridge. This type uses a basic recoil operating system that allows for semi-, triple- and fully automatic fire modes. While key components are made of strong metal, lightweight polymers are used wherever possible to provide a lighter end product. The controls are ambidextrous and suitable for all types of users, and the weapon is highly customizable - the pull handle can be switched to the other side of the casing, the grip radius is adjustable, and attachment sections can be added on multiple rails.

They are located above the actual receiver, to the side and below the front end. Standard iron sights are mounted on the receiver and front end to support the attached optics.

The Scorpion EVO3 uses a short (196mm) barrel length for extreme compactness (the barrel protrudes only a short distance from the front cover). There is a shoulder rest, but it can be hinged on the side of the case, and as an added feature, it's fully detachable and turns the Scorpion EVO3 into a one-handed submachine gun. The magazine is inserted well in front of the trigger group in the usual way. Be careful with peeling in the field as a pair of pins hold the trigger guard assembly in place.

Removing these pins and components provides internal access for replacement or repair. The loaded Scorpion EVO3 weighs 2.77kg and has an overall length of 670mm with an extended axle. When the stock is folded, this is reduced to 410mm.

The main production form of Scorpion EVO3 is "A1". In practice, the series has proven to be very accurate up to 250 yards. Action is also solid, with a full 30-round magazine emptying in 1.5 seconds thanks to a quoted rate of fire of 1,150 rounds per minute.

The muzzle velocity is 1,200 feet per second, and it has strong penetrating power. Operators of the Scorpion EVO3 A1 include the police and army of the Czech Republic and the Egyptian police force.

The Scorpion EVO3 S1 is intended for the civilian market, with fire-only semi-auto action.
