Fabrique Nationale FN Barracuda History
The FN Barracuda is a security service pistol proposed by the Belgian national firm Fabrique and in service with some armed forces around the world. The system represented the FN's only foray into the world of revolvers, but came at a time when other, sexier automatic alternatives appeared.
At the heart of the system is a double-action weapon fired from a conventional rotating cylinder with 6 rounds of ammunition. Guns can shoot them. 38 Special or 357 Magnum cartridges, but a spare cylinder provides use of the 9mm Parabellum.
Until 1989, when the system was no longer manufactured by FN, the Barracuda remained a reliable product.
