The history of the W-85 type

The W-85 heavy machine gun or QJC-88 heavy machine gun is a pneumatic heavy machine gun developed by the People's Republic of China. It fires a Soviet-designed 12.7?108 mm cartridge.

The W-85 was never in service with the PLA in its original configuration, and was only used as a vehicle-mounted machine gun like the QJC-88.

Another Type 85 heavy machine gun of the same name was adopted as the PLA's standard infantry heavy machine gun.
