Shaher-14.5 History

The Shaher is a powerful Iranian-made sniper rifle that can pierce through concrete structures, armored vehicles, and low-flying aircraft. It has an impressive effective range of 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) and measures 1.85 meters (6.1 feet) in length, weighing 22 kilograms (49 pounds). This rifle is particularly effective against helicopters and other low-flying aircraft. Its anti-armor rounds can penetrate 50 millimeters (2.0 inches) of armor and come in various armor-piercing types.

Introduced in 2012, the Shaher-14.5 Heavy Rifle serves as an Anti-Material Rifle (AMR) designed to take down lightly armored vehicles and low-flying aircraft. It also has the capability to penetrate fortifications and engage targets at long distances. The rifle features a bipod for stability and optics for accurate aiming. A later version of the rifle added a Picatinny rail for the attachment of different optics, including night vision devices.

The Shaher-14.5 can complement another Iranian heavy rifle, the Baher-23, which uses 23mm ammunition. Together, these rifles provide Iran with a versatile range of heavy weaponry for military operations.
